Mares can be artificially inseminated with freshly collected semen, with cooled or frozen semen stored in special containers. Artificial insemination offers the advantages of a monitored process and “cleaner” breeding as semen is filtered and processed before AI and allowing for breeding of multiple mares that may not be housed close to the stallion.
