At Northwest Equine Veterinary Associates we dispose of 3.5, 5.0 and 7.5 MHz probes as well as an ultra modern Medison PICO portable ultrasound Spectral, Wave Doppler and Freehand 3D machine.
With our ultrasound equipment most parts of the horse’s body can be successfully imaged. These include the chest (heart and lungs), the abdomen (intestines, spleen, liver, bladder, and kidneys), eyes, as well as tumors. This can help in diagnosing many conditions as:
- Kidney, bladder, and liver stones
- Eye disorders (cataract, retinal detachments, trauma, etc…)
- Intestinal problems related to colic’s and diarrheas
- Tumors and cancers
- Lung disease and fluid accumulations
- Late-term pregnancies and fetal development
